I played the prologue for about an hour last night. It was late so I only visited two locations - the nearest one with the derelict ship and flammable clouds, and Eros station. I quit the game and went to bed. When I checked on it this afternoon, Steam said I'd been playing for 24 hours. I couldn't find the running process in task manager. I couldn't update, apparently because Steam thought it was running. I couldn't uninstall, Steam gave an unspecified error. Steam didn't give me an option to stop the game. I finally exited Steam completely and restarted it, and that allowed me to do the update.
Anyway, impressions from playing:
Please, please, please make the keys configurable. I never use the WASD keys for movement like that. I'm a touch typist, ESDF is much more comfortable for me. Also, please allow me to use mouse buttons in place of keys.
When moving, I sometimes have to click multiple times on a space before it takes effect.
When docked at Eros station, I couldn't find any way to open cargo boxes, even though I had a crew member in cargo when I docked. (Shouldn't I just be able to open them when docked regardless of where the crew is?)
When in the shop on Eros, it would be very nice if I could see the price in the info box that pops up when I select the item. To see the price I have to click on the item and then click on the + to add one quantity. That's just cumbersome. Also, shouldn't it default to 1 when I click on something, rather than 0?
When docked, the "Bar" button doesn't do anything - I'm guessing that's just not implemented yet, but it's confusing. Maybe grey the button out until it's useful?
I also had a few weird graphics glitches, where the screen would go completely grey. I had to alt-tab to the desktop, then back to the game, to fix it.
Besides the bugs my overall impression is that I like the game mechanics and the graphics so far. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. I'm a Kickstarter backer, btw, not sure if that matters.
Thank you for bringing all of these to my attention. adding your feedback+bugs to my list =) As for your user name in this website, it is unfortunate but not the end of the world BTW if you could please leave a positive feedback on steam with the things you liked it will help other see the game and play it
lol - I see that my username is based on my email address. That's going to be confusing, since I'm not at all associated with "mitzigames". I run my own mail server and I create a new email address for every web site where I create an account. That's why I used that for my email address. I'm not really sure how what the best way is to fix that.
